European business school EMLYON has partnered with East China Normal University (ECNU) to create a brand new business education hub in Shanghai.

The Asia-Europe Business School (AEBS) launches in 2016, and will offer a range of high quality programmes including a 4-year bachelor degree in business, an Executive MBA, Executive Masters programmes and specialised Masters in quantitative finance, business analytics, international management and luxury and fashion.

EMLYON expects the school, which will be based in a 5000m2 building overlooking the ECNU campus in central Shanghai, to host 1,500 students by 2020.

The joint school will leverage EMLYON’s deep existing relationships in China, including some 500 graduates, to develop a local entrepreneurial incubator and work with local business to develop applied research programmes. EMLYON’s ongoing partnership with IBM’s innovative educational information systems will also help to provide new approaches to programme delivery.

Bernard Belletante, Dean of EMLYON says, “The development of innovation is a critical issue. Many countries must make the transition from ‘Made in’ to ‘Innovated in’ and the skills and development of students and workers is essential to this aim. EMLYON has a long history of teaching innovation and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit whilst adhering to the highest academic standards. By partnering with ECNU - one of China’s leading educational institutions in the fields of the basic and social sciences, the Asia-Europe Business School will be uniquely equipped to meet this need.”

EMLYON is a triple accredited Grande École de Management founded in 1872, with the aim of becoming a global business school able to train people and develop skills in countries with strong economic potential. EMLYON's strategy is to be present in the main nations of every major continent and to provide a global offering that allows for the flow of high quality students between continents.

ECNU or the East China Normal University in Shanghai, eastern China is one of 16 universities classified as national key universities by the Chinese government. It has 14,000 undergraduate students and 12,000 Master or PhD students and has 4,000 teachers. It recruits from the top 5% of bachelor-level students in China.
