History
Stages of development
Founded in 1872, affiliated to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lyon, EMLYON is one of the major European business schools. Its educational mission consists in helping people and companies acquire and develop their skills, throughout their lifetimes.

Launch of the EMLYON Campus in Shanghai, in partnership with East China Normal University

1st Rhône-Alpes Enterprise Week, dedicated to bringing regional companies and EMLYON students closer together.

Launch of the new “Entrepreneurs in the City” programme: an ambitious project for the promotion and support of business creation by young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods, in partnership with the “Sports dans la ville” (Sports in the City) association.

Launch of two new international programmes: European Master in Management, the first European Master's degree, awarded by flagship institutions in Europe: Aston Business School (Birmingham – UK), LMU (Munich – Germany) and EM LYON Grande Ecole. PhD in Management, the EMLYON PhD taught exclusively in English, with the aim of training future teachers/researchers.

Launch of the Regional Partnership Charter: as the School wants to strengthen the special relationship that EMLYON has with the region's companies, it implemented a partnership charter specifically designed on the basis of mutual commitment.

Launch of the new Specialised Master's Degree in partnership with Ecole Centrale Paris: Strategy & Development of International Affairs

EMLYON joins CPA LYON: the benchmark programme for training of Senior Management.

Launch of the multi-campus and multi-district “Trait d'Union” project, aiming to give secondary school students from disadvantaged and difficult areas (ZEPs) the possibility of gaining access to diploma programmes that they perceive as being off-limits to them, due to their social, cultural and geographic positioning.

Launch of two new Specialised Master's Degrees: Organisational and Auditing Consulting and Financial Information.

EM LYON receives the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation, which comes on top of the Equis and AMBA accreditations already acquired.

Creation of the “EMLYON China Club”: made up of EMLYON graduates living in China, former participants and partners, this club aims to foster exchange and cooperation between its members and to support the development of EMLYON's activities in China and Asia.

A new students' association is founded - “Planet & Co” - acting in the interest of sustainable development and fair trade.

Launch of EMLYON Magazine, which reports news, highlights the school's exchanges with its international partners and its pedagogical innovations; and features a special report in each issue.

EMLYON and INSA de Lyon open an office in Shanghai (China) with the objective of developing the integration of Chinese students in both schools; and building joint academic programmes in the sciences and management.

EMLYON launches a totally new concept of student guidance in France: the Career Centre. This system, based on EMLYON's virtual campus [em-lyon.net], consists in guiding students in the construction of their career and personal plans.

Creation of the mandatory 2-month international seminar for all Bachelor students (1st year of the ESC programme) with the aim of preparing them for their 6-month mission abroad.

EMLYON was chosen as the HPAIR Club France (Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations).

EMLYON Entrepreneurs' Centre launches the Corporate Takeover Programme and joins the Maison de l'Entrepreneuriat (House of Entrepreneurship).
