The CEntre for Financial Risk Analysis - CEFRA
Since the last decade, the need for more inter-relationships amongst the diverse sectors of the risk business has become clear and indispensable. There is a huge want for reflection between all the actors, both professionals and academics, of the financial and actuarial activities. Founded in 2006, the CEntre for Financial Risks Analysis (CEFRA) attempts to stimulate exchanges in this direction with the ambition to fill in the gap between the different fields of the risk industry and thus to favour the development of convergences and new research sub domains in the finance, risk management and insurance domains. CEFRA is now composed of 10 professors of EMLYON Business School and several PhD students
Organized by CEFRA, internal and external seminars are scheduled regularly at EMLYON Business School. Each workshop focuses on a particularly up-to-date topic. The external annual workshop presents four talks and a special address, all given by leading academics and/or practitioners. The impact of CEFRA on a wider audience is already clear, as some recent chronicles in newspapers suggest, focusing on the failure of North American models of risk analysis, highlighted by the recent and ongoing financial crisis.
Most recently, in the Spring 2008, the Ministry of Higher Education has accredited a new EMLYON Specialized Master degree in Financial Markets. Entirely conceived, designed and promoted by the CEFRA, it will offer 27 high-level scientists a top-level training on post-markets, financial markets and other trading activities.
