Co-founded by EMLYON, INSA Lyon and ENS Lettres et Sciences Humaines, this Institute will be home to all of the existing and future research projects carried out in Asia by the three schools and their partners. This joint initiative will offer deeper knowledge and understanding of the elements that constitute the Asian ethos.
Supported by Grand Lyon and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lyon, it is also meant to shed light on the emergence of a new Euro-Asian continent and to encourage subsequent economic, cultural and educational opportunities.
In this respect, the “New Silk Road” Institute's activity will focus on three main missions:
- create multidisciplinary research centres (in sciences, social sciences, management…) involving local and Asian institutions in order to promote exchanges and synergies between them,
- organize meetings in Lyon on education, culture, politics, with European and Asian decision-makers,
- create and update an international information database listing experts who could speak on Asian and Euro-Asian issues in local higher education institutions and take part in the Institute's projects. |
