Publications & Research
Through a 4 year longitudinal qualitative case study of a French multinational company implementing an ERP system in its Chinese subsidiary, Julien's PhD research addresses issues related to the work practices of embedded users. The particular richness and interest of this multi-disciplinary work lie in the implications for global projects, international technology transfer, MNC multiple identity, distributed work, and cultural misfits between head offices and host sites. A major contribution of the research concerns the unexpected and unofficial workarounds developed by Chinese users and the reactions from the headquarters creating new organizational structures to react to the organizational misfit observed and gain agility.
