Mike Wright, Affiliate Researcher Corporate Finance
Mike Wright is also Professor of Financial Studies, Director of the Center for Management Buy-out Research at Nottingham University Business School and visiting professor at Erasmus University and University of Ghent, receiving an Honorary Doctorate from the last in 2006. He has published 50 authored/edited books and over 300 academic papers on academic entrepreneurship, venture capital, private equity and related topics in Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Review of Economics and Statistics, Research Policy, Journal of Business Venturing, California Management Review, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Economic Journal, European Financial Management, etc. He was recently ranked #1 worldwide for publications in academic entrepreneurship 1981-2005 and for publications in entrepreneurship 1995-2006. He was an editor of Journal of Management Studies until 2009, and is an Associate Editor Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal and an editor of Journal of Technology Transfer. He is program chair for the Academy of Management Entrepreneurship Division, 2010 winner of its Mentor Award in 2009, and was the winner of the Outstanding Editorial Board Reviewer Award for Academy of Management Learning and Education Journal. He has taught highly regarded MBA courses on Venture Capital and Private Equity for many years. He has undertaken projects for the EBRD, OECD, EU, ILO, EVCA, BVCA, Dutch VCA, World Bank, American Enterprise Institute, UK National Audit Office, ITUC, IWT (Belgium), Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and Scottish Enterprise, as well as many private equity firms and consulting firms on the impact of private equity, venture capital, privatization and technology transfer. His research is widely and regularly covered in the press and other media including the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Les Echos, etc. He regularly makes presentations at conferences for practitioners in the private equity industry.
