Professor of Management Science, PI (Independent Principal Investigators for 3 National Scientific Grants)

Prof. Yeming (Yale) Gong studies logistics and supply chain management, the interface between operations management and information systems, with application interests in logistics, retailing, manufacturing, and IT industries. He has published two books “Stochastic Modelling and Analysis of Warehouse Operations” in Erasmus and “Global Operations Strategy: Fundamentals and Practice” in Springer. His book “Global Operations Strategy" has been globally adopted by 40+ universities or business schools in Europe, USA, Australia, Africa, China, and other Asian Countries. With records of 14 articles in A/ CNRS-1 /FT journals, he published 41 articles in journals like Production and Operations Management, IIE Transactions, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Annals of Operations Research, International Journal of Information Management, Management Decision, Logistics Research, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. Prof. Gong received "2010 the Best Paper Award in Design and Manufacturing" from IIE, and "Erasmus Scholarship for Teaching" from European Union. He is advising 9 PhD and 3 DBA students as chair or co-chair. 10 of his PhD students have graduated, and 5 of them are now Principal Investigators (PI) with independent scientific grants. Supported by public scientific grants, he is a senior PI leading an international scientific cooperation team including 14PIs, 6 Professors, 7 Associate Professors, 11 Assistant Professors, 3 Post-Doc, 20+ PhD in France, China, Netherlands and USA. According to a published scientometrics article by leading USA professors of logistics, he is listed as top 10 in the world, No.1 in France, and No.1 in Chinese world in the field of material handling , measured by the degree of centrality.
