Yeming GONG

Professor of Management Science

Yeming (Yale) Gong is a professor of management science in EMLYON. He is the Director of the Business Intelligence Center (BIC). He published two books “Stochastic Modelling and Analysis of Warehouse Operations” in Erasmus and “Global Operations Strategy: Fundamentals and Practice” in Springer. His book Global Operations Strategy is globally adopted by 50+ education institutes in Europe, USA, China, Japan, Australia, Africa, and other countries. He published 70 articles (see Google Scholar) in journals like Production and Operations Management, IIE Trans., EJOR, IJPE, IJPR, JORS, Annals of OR, OMEGA, and IEEE TEM, with 50 articles in SCI and Scopus-indexed journals (see Scopus and Publons) and 17 articles in CNRS1/FT journals. He is a "distinguished column writer" in Sina and publishes industrial reports including "Top 100 Smart Manufacturers" and "Whitebook of Smart Manufacturing Industry" for industrial impacts. He is an Internet Influencer and his web-based presentations (via 6 mainstream media including National Business Daily, SINA ) have 1 million executive audiences. He received the " Best Paper Award in Design and Manufacturing" from IIE, 2019 "Outstanding Paper Award" from ASCOM. 12 of his Ph.D. students have graduated. 6 of his previous Ph.D. students have become PIs.He is advising 8 Ph.D., 4 DBA, and 3 Post-doc students.

Research InterestTop

While I narrow my research with a focus on the interface between IT and Operations Management (Warehousing, Logistics, Supply Chain,  Technology Management), I widen my methodological lens to study this theme with both quantitative and qualitative methods, analytical and empirical methods, and from the top to the bottom.
