Professor in Strategy and Organizaion
I am Professor in the « Strategy and organization » department. I serve as « Disrupted Futures (d.futures) » Course Director. d.futures is a core course in the school’s Master of Science in Management, International MBA, and Executive MBA curricula.
d.futures is a live case-based course in which participants are provided with a unique opportunity to apply newly acquired knowledge and competencies to help a real organization anticipate multiple, alternative futures. By sticking to the conventional strategy work and focusing their attention on a single, desired future, strategists run the risk of preempting the opportunity for sensing and making sense of unpredictable, emergent patterns in their contextual environment. On the contrary, imagining and exploring alternative, disrupted futures may yield new conceptual lenses through which strategists may sense and make sense of aspects of the present, particularly novelty. Attending to the many futures-in-the-present may allow strategists to consider new assumptions, ask better questions, and invent novel strategic options through a process of discovery and immersive learning.
As a researcher, I am exploring how organizations may learn to "use the future(s)" to navigate unchartered waters.
